Project Overview
The Product:
Redesign the client's existing Carpet Cleaning website to be more user-friendly.

The Problem:
The client has an outdated website that isn't bringing in enough traffic.
The Goal:
Design and create a new website for the client that improves their SEO and accessibility in search results and brings in more clients.

Wireframes & Sitemap
I created mobile low-fi wireframes for Extreme Steam first. I wanted to ensure that the user experience on a mobile device was top priority because the client’s previous website was not optimized for mobile.
After creating the mobile low-fi wireframes, I translated them to a desktop low-fi wireframe. I wanted to ensure that the website would be accessible on both mobile and desktop devices as the average consumer for this client’s product is above the age of 50.
This is a sitemap I created for Extreme Steam by analyzing their current website and keeping the integrity of their site structure while also removing unnecessary/outdated pages.
Old vs New Website
Old Website Homepage
As you’ll see below, the previous website homepage was very outdated. The previous website was created back in 2015 and needed a clear overhaul. The font was outdated and the contact form on the homepage didn’t work correctly, and it was clear that no one was maintaining the website after they had built it.
New Website Homepage
The new website homepage is much cleaner and modern. We wanted to highlight the client’s 5-star rating on Google, so we made that the first thing users see once they scroll past the hero image. Our idea with this was that if users were skeptical about a smaller company that they hadn’t heard of before, these reviews would reassure them that this company is trustworthy and effective. We also highlighted their services and what potential customers can expect to get from this company before having to reach out with any inquiries.
Final Design
Takeaways
This was my second contract job for my personal business and this client was very pleased with the final result. We are currently still working with this client on a monthly basis to cover website maintenance/changes, marketing, and CRM support, so the webpage may change over time.
